Eco-Digithon 2026: Empowering the next generation of Eco-Innovators from Italy

Hosted in Foligno from 18 to 20 March 2026, the Italian Eco-Digithon 2026 was remembered not simply as an event, but as a deeply meaningful journey — one that brought together ideas, emotions, and people in a way that truly resonated with everyone involved. It created a space where young participants could explore eco-innovation while growing in confidence, awareness, and connection with others.
A total of 13 VET centres came to Foligno, bringing together 82 eco-innovators, including 62 students, 20 teachers, and societal case providers.

Now, let us hear their voices.

Eco-Digithon 2026 proved to be an intense and transformative experience, combining training, teamwork, and international dialogue. It equipped students with essential skills – from project development to public speaking – while promoting awareness and action around environmental and local challenges.

What stood out most in the aftermath were the participants’ voices, which clearly reflected the event’s real impact. Teachers described feeling deeply moved and proud of the students’ energy and enthusiasm, while expressing sincere gratitude for the care and attention shown throughout the entire journey. They particularly highlighted the students’ confidence and determination, noting how they were able to present their ideas with conviction – demonstrating not only technical skills but also significant personal growth and self-belief. The students’ creativity, courage, and commitment were recognised as the true driving force behind the experience.

The opportunity to receive feedback from an international Social Jury added another layer of richness, allowing students to test their ideas, gain new perspectives, and feel part of a wider European dialogue. This exchange reinforced the sense of openness and mutual learning that characterised the entire experience.

By the final stage, when the projects were presented and evaluated in front of a jury of experts from a wide range of backgrounds and skill sets, it was not just the quality of the ideas that emerged, but also the journey behind them – the effort, collaboration and personal growth that each team had experienced. Recognising the winning projects celebrated not only innovation and sustainability, but also the commitment and passion shown by all participants.

The jury awarded 1st place to Liceo Epifanio Ferdinando (Mesagne, Brindisi) for “ScobyLab – Biotech from Olive Waste”, recognising its strong innovative potential and focus on sustainability. The 2nd place was assigned to ITT Leonardo da Vinci (Foligno) for “4 sensori, un obiettivo: ridare fiducia al tuo rubinetto”, followed by 3rd place awarded to Istituto di Istruzione Superiore “C. Rosatelli” (Rieti) for “Aquafarm Coach 2.0”. The Social Jury Award went to Istituto Superiore Alfonso Casanova (Napoli) for “Eco Note: Armonia di Riuso”, highlighting the project’s ability to engage and resonate with an international audience.
